  HELP FOR EPILEPSY
Testimonial By: Wesley Gibhard        Publish Date: 2004-12-01

Hi Eugenie (more thoughts on Epilepsy)

Thanks for the epilepsy info.  As you know my Labrador bitch has suffered for years and the way we control it is via:

  1. Traditional Chinese Medicine - I went to see a vet in Cape Town while on holiday (he practices in TCM).  She is now on a course of herbal tables, which she’s been taking for two years.
  2. She used to bring up bile very often (especially at night and early hours of morning) which was also a problem as the vet said because she had no food in her stomach (her last meal of the day was 16:00), the bile which was supposed to work on her food was actually causing some reaction in her brain which also helped to bring on the fits.  I have split the afternoon meal and she now eats half at 16:00 and the other half anytime between 21:30 and 22:00.
  3. EAR WORK when she has one or I suspect one coming on.
  4. The other thing I saw on Carte Blanche a couple of weeks back was how the Gregorian Chant lowers humans brain waves (left & right brain) and relaxes them completely.  If it can work on humans it can work on animals so it might be worth a try.  If played very softly at night where they sleep or during the day when their humans are away where they might have an opportunity to get stressed.

Annie still has her fits but infrequently and milder and gets over them quicker.

Regards
Wesley Gibhard
