Puppy 1 - socialization & habituation   TRAINING

You will learn positive techniques to motivate puppy and activities to build puppy's confidence (yours too!) using clicker methods and TTouch.

Every member of the family will learn to manage puppy's behaviour with effective methods of motivation. Help with housetraining puppy, techniques to manage puppy's nipping, barking, digging, chewing; or information on grooming.

Where else will you get the opportunity to "pass the puppy", or observe "puppy playtime"? These activities are not only important learning experiences, but they are great fun for puppies & their humans.

Puppy 2 - socialization & habituation       TRAINING
In these classes you continue learning and solidifying the basic commands to enable your puppy to live in harmony in your home. During the 4-5 month period your puppy will start to test it’s human and can become quite fearful of new things.

Careful, fun introduction of new sounds and different visual stimuli are added into the class at this stage. At 5-7 months puppies develop their “Will to please”. Play learning and informal fun learning/training is done in a positive, safe environment, and full advantage is taken of this great learning period.

For puppies from 4 months - 8 months.
  • Every Wednesday at 7:00pm & Saturday at 2:30pm
  • Saturday 9:30am at Riverclub Veterinary Clinic
Open obedience classes       TRAINING
Proper training keeps your dog happy, healthy, and young. No matter what the age, size, or breed, training your dog to respond to basic commands most of the time makes him a pleasure to live with.

If your dog is displaying undesirable behaviours, it's never too late to train your pet. Most behavioural problems, such as aggression, begging, and home or garden destruction, can be resolved with a basic training program. Well-behaved dogs are happier dogs…and so are their owners.

  Every Wednesday at 7:00pm,
Saturday at 3:30pm
Feisty Fido       TRAINING
These classes are for the more reactive dogs, who are not able to be included in an ordinary obedience class, due to poor socialization skills. The dogs are taught with positive reinforcement, that it is a rewarding experience to be in the same area as another dog and not react.

They are taught calming signals and the handlers are given information on how to read their dogs body language and how to prevent their dog loosing control. These classes are kept small and it is essential that the handler/s are able to keep their dogs with them at all times..

TTouch   TRAINING
TTouch is a specialized approach to the care and training of our animal companions. Developed by internationally recognized animal expert, Linda Tellington-Jones, this method based on cooperation and respect offers a positive approach to training, can improve performance and health and presents solutions to common behavioural and physical problems.

It also helps establish a deeper rapport between humans and animals through increased understanding and more effective communication. (See TTouch website)

Bodies in Balance offers private consultations to clients for all companion animals, as well as group workshops for Dogs and Cats. These workshops are run every second month and give a general idea of the TTouch work. Participants bring their animals to the workshops, and both people and animals benefit greatly from the work done over the two days.
